Norma Jean Devore

"A Time to Be Born" Norma Jean (Whitener) Devore was born March 22, 1942 to the late Mr. Henry David Whitener and Mrs. Dorothy (Osborn) Whitener. She passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in Brandon Mississippi. Mrs. Jean was raised in Marble Hill where at an early age she joined Old Trace Creek Baptist Church. She was the oldest of four siblings. "A Time to Live" After graduating from Woodland High School, the work study job of bookkeeper at Shell Feed and Supply was offered as full-time employment. Mrs. Jean married William Don Devore on January 22, 1964 and to this union one son William Don Devore, Jr was born. She was a Godly woman who served others in her walk. She served as secretary of the Missouri Annual Conference's Women Missionary Union. She thoroughly enjoyed working with children providing biblical foundations which she did until her health failed. Mrs. Jean had a passion for crafts and quilting. This passion lead to her volunteering at Southeast Hospital and making items for babies born during the month of December. She was also the family photographer-capturing many images during church and family gatherings. She was a loving faithful wife, mother, sister and daughter who provided unconditional support, encouragement, and love to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. "A Time of Home Going" God beckoned for Jean to bid farewell to this earthly mission. Ms. Jean made her transition on Tuesday August 3, 2021 at 12:45 p.m. peacefully at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brandon, MS. Ms. Jean was preceded in death by both parents Henry David and Dorothy Whitener, two sisters Patricia Rook, and Peggy Bollinger. "A Time to Mourn" Ms. Jean is survived by her loving brother Henry (Linda) Whitener of Glen Allen, MO, a devoted husband William Don Devore, of 57 years; doting son Jr (Heather) two grandchildren Gabi and Kaden Devore all of Florence, MS, and a sister in law Lois (Wayne) Seabaugh of Jackson, MO, and a brother in law Larry Bollinger of Marble Hill, MO. Mrs. Jean also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and loving friends. "A Time to Rest" "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith." Visitation will be Friday August 6, 2021 from 10 AM until time of service at 1 PM at the Harmony Congregational Methodist Church near Marble Hill, MO. Funeral Service will follow at 1PM at the church with Rev. Greg Burns and Rev. Elijah Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Trace Creek Cemetery in Glen Allen, MO.
