Tuesday, June 26, 1934 to Sunday, January 10, 2010 A Resident of Marble Hill, MO Visitation Services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO The Final Resting Place is at the Cook Cemetery near Scopus, MO Bob Joe Staten, 75, of Marble Hill, MO, died Sunday, January 10, 2010 at his home. He was born June 26, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL; son of Ervin and Helen Louise Stephens Staten. He and Joyce Kay Bollinger were united in marriage on June 22, 1963. Bob retired as a police officer after twenty four years for the Cahokia Police Department and was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include: his wife, Kay of Marble Hill; two sons, Robert Earl Staten of Branson MO; and Cary Jay Staten of Pevely, MO; two brothers, Wayne Staten of Panama City, FL; Bill Staten of Branson, MO; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the Cook Cemetery in Scopus. Bob was one of a kind. He is one person who truly loved his job. Looking at this picture sure does bring back many happy memories. I know he will be missed but remember the good times and how he lived his life. Kay, I am so sorry for your loss. Bobby Joe was a good man and someone I always looked up to. He was one of the best men I've known, and an inspiration to me in my career as a Police Officer. They just don't make cops like those guys anymore. I've always tried to model my role as a police officer after those guys. I truly will miss Bobby Joe. Staten was one of the most kind and friendly persons I've ever met. He treated me like he'd known me forever when I started working at the Cahokia PD in 1979. I have SO many memories of him from days as a Deputy Marshal, CSA, Dispatcher, and a Police Officer. Wish I would've known about his funeral. He will be missed! R.I.P. Bobby! To Bob's family and friends, I remember when I first became a Cahokia Police officer and Bob was a Sgt. Thanks for all the great memories. The family will be in our thoughts and prayers. We heard too late to attend the service. So long Sgt. Thanks for all you showed us when we were wet behind the ears rookies. Being able to call you our friend has been an honor and a privilege.
