Charles Marvin Kirkpatrick

Charles Marvin Kirkpatrick Jr., more commonly known as Charlie, Marvin, or Pawpaw, departed this Earthly life on February 20, 2020. He was surrounded by family and friends at St. Francis Hospital when he gained his Heavenly wings. He was 62 years old. He was born to Charles "Jim" Sr. and Roberta "Bert" Kirkpatrick on September 29, 1957. He and Cynthia "Cindy" Sutt were married on January 1, 1977. 43 years, or 93 if you had asked him, brought them four children, eight grandchildren, and a love most dream of. Marvin worked at Rubbermaid for most of those years as a mechanic. Marvin was a jokester and a genius all in one. He could find humor in anything, and enjoyed teaching his grandbabies pranks, tricks, and jokes. He loved music and could play any instrument he picked up. He was a problem solver and a fixer-if you needed something built or repaired, even if it was something you made up, he could do it. He enjoyed old cars and could often be found in the garage tinkering around. More than anything, he loved his family. After he started getting grandbabies, he slowed down on working in the garage and finding new projects. He started to relax and enjoy the little things in life. He took pride in helping Cindy put up her Christmas decorations each year and planting the garden, long talks with Mike about cars and music, telling Carrie about his newest silly inventions like the dinger to let him know when the mail ran or the clicker that turned on all the lights, and helping Cathy raise her babies. One of his favorite things to do was sit on the porch watching his grandbabies play in the yard or riding bikes. Those kids could talk him into anything, which is exactly why you would find him in the store getting donuts every morning before taking them to school. His kids had to wait for the bus every day, but not these grandkids! He loved his kids but was not about to have them spoiled. Yet, if one of the grandkids wanted an island of their own, he would find a way to buy or build it. Charlie and Elliott loved to play magnets with him and learning tricks to play on Maw-maw. Carly's favorite thing was taking four-wheeler rides with him (even though he liked to go fast and make her scream really loud). Kaydence loved his sense of humor, and Jayda was his movie watching partner. He was Wyatt's favorite person in the world, and he would cry every time he left the room. Together they were professional nappers. Natalie loved to play games with him, and he always made her laugh, especially when he called her and her sister's his little squirrels. Logan cherished their mornings together before school and will never look at the color purple the same again, thanks to him. Everyone who knew Marvin loved him, and he was highly respected by all who had the pleasure of spending time with him. Missing him today is his wife, and his children Cathy Harris, Mike Kirkpatrick, and Carrie (Jason) Owens. His grandchildren Kaydence, Logan, Carly, Jayda, Charlie, Natalie, Elliott, and Wyatt will forever remember him as the center of their world. He also leaves behind a grieving brother, Wain (Sheila) Kirkpatrick, and three sisters, Susan Sullivan, Betty Ann Cartt, and Linda Kirkpatrick. Many other relatives and friends will always look back on memories of him with a smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl Kirkpatrick, and sister Jeannie Skaggs. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO. Funeral Service will be conducted 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the funeral home with the Rev. Donny Kirkpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in the McGee Chapel Cemetery near Grassy, MO.
