Helen Dunham

Helen Skaggs Dunham was born in Patton Missouri July 3, 1934. She was the youngest of 6 children of Ella and Everet Skaggs who once lived here in this house before it became a funeral home. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved brothers Carl, Ed and Donald Skaggs . Helen is survived by her dear sister's Mary Beck and Rosie Campbell. Helen did work for a period of time as a phone operator with her sisters in Flatriver but after that she was a proud homemaker staying home to raise her daughters and support her husband through college and his career with General Motors. She was active in the Methodist church and volunteered in the local community. She had a passion for cooking! Her family recipe cookbook that she made when she was in her late 70's is cherished by her family. Bill and Helen were married 65 years . They are survived by their daughters Cheri Posey and Dana Limpert (spouse Chris). They had 7 grandchildren Adam Gursky, Carrie Jones (spouse Cory), Becky Posey, Kristen Pennock (spouse Brandon), David Limpert (spouse Rachel), Andrew Limpert(spouse Kelly), and Emily Limpert. They had 7 beautiful great-grandchildren Dillon, Vallen, Rogan, Cole, Madeleine, Brody and Abigail all who they cherished dearly. Bill and Helen loved family beyond anything else. They were always there for them for the happy times of celebration and time of need and support. They had a special unique relationship with each grandchild. They were there whenever possible for sporting events, birthday's, graduations or for no special reason whatso ever! Bill and Helen loved to travel and camp whenever they could. They travelled all over the world and all over the US after Bill retired. They loved ElPaso where they spent most of their retirement years. Even though their last few years were hard as Bill fought Dementia and Helen fought Parkinsons they never lost their love and devotion to each other. Once Bill passed, Helen tried for a few short months to stay with her beloved family but everyone knew she needed to go to be with Bill. Those who knew them know the enduring love they had for each other and the strength and support they gave to family and friends. Family gathering will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO. Memorial service is Saturday, September 19,2020 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Internment will follow in the Patton Cemetery.
