Brantley, age 75, of Millersville, passed away on October 23, 2011 at his residence. He was born September 07, 1936 in Charter Oak, MO; son of James Franklin and Essie Ethel Brantley. He and Virginia Marie Butler were married on April 6, 1958. Jerry had worked as a Conductor for the Cotton Belt and Southern Pacific Railroads until his retirement in 1997, a founding member of the Royal Rangers in Scott City, member of the Royal Rangers of Marble Hill, member of the UTU and was a member of the Jackson Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Marble Hill; four sons, James and Brian Brantley both of Marble Hill; Brandon Brantley of Cape Girardeau; Douglas Brantley of Festus; one daughter, Kimberly Hubbard of Austin, ARK; a sister; Rev. Gay Davis of Rapid City, SD; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Sherman, and two sisters, Camilla and Lucille. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Loise Moses and Rev. John Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near Sedgewickville, MO. Dear Marie and children, i was so sorry to hear of the loss of Jerry. I know he has been very ill for a while but still the loss isn't any easier. I'm praying for the lord to send comfort your way. Doug and Family - I am so sorry to hear of Jerry. Words are empty, but I have been comforted by this phrasing - In "pastures green"? Not always; the Lord knowest best, in kindness leadeth me in weary ways, where heavy shadows be. So, whether on the hill-tops high and fair I dwell, or in the sunless valleys, where the shadows lie, what matter? He is there.
