Sunday, September 05, 1943 to Friday, October 10, 2008 A Resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Lorimer Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, MO The Final Resting Place is at the Lorimer Cemetery in Cape Girardeau Jesse Daniel Masterson, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, October 10, 2008 in Fort Madison, Iowa. He was born September 5, 1943 in Bridgeman, Michigan son of Daniel Thomas and Ida Beatrice Lewis Masterson. He worked in the telephone Industry and was a member of the American Legion Post 63 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. Survivors include a son, Marvin Sturgeon, of Mountain Home, Idaho; a daughter, Patricia Kittel of Wausau, Wisconsin; two brothers, Russell Masterson of Marble Hill; and Bob Masterson of Calimesa, California; a sister, Helen Laabs of Columbia Station, Ohio; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, and two sisters. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 17, 2008, at the Lorimer Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with Colonel Lee Hickam of the Salvation Army officiating. Military honors given by The American Legion Post 63 and The Missouri Honor Team 1081. Liley Funeral Home of Marble is in charge of the arrangements. Sorry for the loss of your brother, Russ Uncle Russell- It's Mark Robert's ex-wife from Illinois! I was very saddened to hear of Uncle Jesse's death. Mark & I remain very close and I know by speaking to him that he was torn up as well. I found this site by coincidence and I know that once I tell him about it, you will be hearing from him. God Bless to you and the rest of the family. Dear family, My name is Tom Seibert. Larry Ruhs and I have for the past 7 3/4 years led a Bible study in ISP. (Russel, I believe that you have talked with Larry.) I just found this website this morning as I prepare to do a memorial service for Jesse tomorrow in ISP. I want you to know that it has been a privilege and an honor to study the Word of God with Jesse. Jesse was a spiritual inspiration to me and I shall always treasure my shared life experience wtih him. Larry and requested and were granted a visit with Jesse in hospice on Ocober 7th. I don't know if Jesse knew we were there or not, but the Lord blessed us one more time with the opportunity to pray with and for Jesse and sing to him about his Redeemer. Jesse last joined us in class on September 23rd. In that class one of our questions in the homework was "What does the name Jesus mean to you?"
