Larry S Woods

Larry S Woods, "Bob Cox", age 72, of Jackson, MO; passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully in his home Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was born April 8, 1949 in Chaffee, Missouri, son of Sherman and Gladys (Modglin) Woods. He spent his childhood days in Scott City playing baseball and causing mischief with his two brothers. Eventually moving to Kansas with his family where he met the love of his life, Carol Ann Kluber Woods. Married July 1, 1972, they spent nearly 50 years modeling the definition of love, compassion and dedication. A jack of all trades, Larry spent most of his life as a service manager and school bus driver for Jackson R2. Greeting everyone with a, "Hey young lady" or "Hey big boy", rarely meeting a stranger. Laughter always followed him with his wide variety of pranks and inappropriate jokes. Often remembered for his quick wit and generous heart he will be sorely missed by many. Larry dedicated his life to not only his children, but hundreds of children in the Jackson community. He drove multiple sports teams throughout the years and he was never "just" the bus driver. He was a second dad, team manager, warm up coach, videographer, mentor, math tutor and friend. Working closely with Jackson City Park and Recreation he helped build the Jackson Girls Softball program. He managed the Jackson Girls League and coached travel fastpitch with the Heartland Hurricanes for many years. As a coach he instilled integrity, teamwork and warrior attitudes, qualities many of us still carry today. Larry had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, spending time at the gun range, was an avid fisherman and spent many years as a member of BASS master. He and his family enjoyed spending time on the lakes together leaving many lasting memories. Most of all Larry loved his family and would do anything he could to help. He was blessed with four grandchildren that were the light of his life. He enjoyed taking them fishing and shopping. Larry leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Carol Woods of Jackson; son, Larry "Bud" Woods Jr of Susquehanna, PA; two daughters, Laura (Scot) Carnley of Fort Valley, GA, Kristen (Robert) Morrison of Oak Ridge, MO; four grandchildren, Lucas Woods, Logan Woods, Journie (TJ) Neeley, Koltin Morrison; two brothers, Michael (late Nancy) Woods, Anthony (Kim) Woods and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Toby. Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, Sherman and Gladys Woods. His family welcomes you to his celebration of life, April 2022 at the Jackson City Park.
