Saturday, June 28, 1919 to Thursday, November 08, 2007 A Resident of Patton, MO Visitation Services will be held on Friday, November 09, 2007 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO The Final Resting Place is at the Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus, MO Marell Toots Mayfield, 88 years old, of Patton, MO, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Jackson Manor in Jackson, MO. He was born June 28, 1919 in Glen Allen, MO, son of John Franklin and Ercy Eller Brown Mayfield. He and Algerene Marie Mayfield were married November 22, 1946 and she died June 6, 1996. Mr. Mayfield was Bollinger County Treasurer for 4 years, postmaster and rural mail carrier for 23 years, worked in the timber business and as a farmer, a Meadow Heights school bus driver for 10 years, and cared for foster children for 35 years. He also was a member of the Little Whitewater Baptist Church where he served as song director, in the Little Whitewater Quartet and as Sunday School Teacher. Marell served his country proudly as a Staff Sergeant during WWII where he earned an American Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Ribbon and an American Theater Ribbon. Survivors include; two sons, Donnie W. (Sarah) Mayfield and Richard L. (Kathy) Mayfield both of Jackson, two daughters, Susie (Tom) Smith of Patton, Karen (Robert) Craft of New Wells, MO, one brother, Don Mayfield of Florissant, MO, one sister, Nelda (Franklin) Wilkinson of Cape Girardeau, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter Donna Mayfield, one brother, Eston Mayfield, and one sister Alene Cook. Friends may call at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton Friday, November 9, 2007 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Pulliam Cemetery near Marble Hill. Donnie, Richard, Susie,and Karen, Sorry for your loss and you will be in our prayers. Your dad was a good man. We loved him very much I was so sorry to hear of Toots' passing.I only recently heard of his being in the nursing home.I wanted to go see him, but our family have had 2 sisters to pass away in less than 2 months , so we'd been spending a lot of time at the hospitals. again, I am sorry for your loss.
