Monday, September 02, 1918 to Wednesday, March 28, 2012 A Resident of Marble Hill, MO Visitation Services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO The Final Resting Place is at the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO Marvin Henry Hill, age 93, of Marble Hill, MO passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Woodland Hills Nursing Home. He was born September 2, 1918 in Grassy, MO; son of James and Rosa Moore Hill. Marvin joined the United States Army in May of 1941and served thru May of 1945. While he was in the Army he served in the 20th Infantry Regiment of the 6th Infantry Division that landed on the Island of New Guinea, during June of 1944. His unit was advancing against Japanese units in the area of Coral Rock Hill when he was wounded, some 45 years later in May of 1985 he received his Purple Heart. He worked as a carpenter when he got out of the Army and was a member and past commander of the VFW Post #5900. Survivors include: several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and six sisters. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Huff officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill with Full Military Honors provided by VFW Post #5900. Sorry I did not get to attend the funeral or viewing. I didnot know about his passing till it was over with. Marvin was the catalyst that began our journey with the Moore family through the reunions. I don't remember how long my daughter, Diane, and I have been going, but he was one of the first faces we looked for each time we went. He always seemed happy and was always eager to answer any questions we had regarding our Moore ancestors. We loved him so much and will miss him greatly. Marvin, you were a wonderful cousin and I never saw you when you were not smiling. I will miss you so much, the reunion will not be the same without you. I know you are having a wonderful time in heaven but do remember us from time to time!
