"Bud" Hanners, 85, of Burfordville, MO, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Woodland Hills Nursing Center in Marble Hill, MO. He was born May 19, 1924 at Scopus, MO; son of Charles J. and Polly A. Cook Hanners. He and Verna Mae Cook were united in marriage September 27, 1947 and she died April 10, 2005. "Bud" retired from the Jackson R-2 School system where he had worked in maintenance and a school bus driver. After retiring he assisted in the operation of Wayne & Sandy's Hutch. Survivors include: his son Dwayne and wife Sandy Hanners of Sedgewickville, MO, Nephews & Nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be Friday, April 16, 2010, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Fulbright and Rev. Steven Sander officiating. Burial will follow in the Cook Cemetery at Scopus. Wayne and Sandy, You have my sincere sympathy, and may God bless you greatly in those lonely days ahead. I'm not sure if you remember me but I am a cousin. Your grandpa Charles J. and my great-grandpa John Benton Hanners were brothers. Dear Wayne and Sandra Kay, My thoughts and prayers are with you both. It's hard to imagine our lives without our parents. We are the extension of them and hopefully the good parts of them. There is comfort knowing that Bud and Verna Mae are together again in heaven looking down on you. May God comfort you and by the grace of God we'll all see them again. Dear Wayne & Sandra Kay, There are not enough words in the dictionary to express what this man meant to me and my family. He is the very face, example and living proof of what a Christian should be like. We would all do ourselves well to strive to live like Bud did. If you never heard Bud pray then you missed something so special, when he prayed thru and touched the face of God it was as though a host of angels were singing and dancing around the throne of God. Every young man and old man who ever had the desire to be a deacon should look at the life this man led for 45 years at Hurricane Fork Church. They were so blessed to have him as a deacon and he has passed that passion for doing the right things on to the ones they have now. There was no better teacher. Bud, I will sorely miss you, I loved you but, most of all I love all the things you taught us kids. We will never forget the Christian that you were. God Bless your family. We love them so much. Wayne & Sandy, Sorry for your lost. Will be keeping you in my prayers. Wayne and Sandy, I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. It is very hard to give up your only parent. It was hard on me when I lost my Father last August. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
