William Dunham

Willian Dunham was born in Bonne Terre on April 2, 1935. He was the oldest son of Alvia Hurley and Vertrice (Red) Dunham (wife Lois). He was proceeded in death by his parents and his only sibling, his sister JoDel Clifton, who's life we also celebrate today. He spent a lot of time growing up with his Grandmother Miller and he was known to his family as Billy Gene. After graduating high school he worked in the lead mines alongside his father and many relatives. That was to be short lived as the mines soon closed. While waiting to join the Marines he worked in the Pepsi Cola bottling plant and pumped gas at Texaco Town. He joined the marines, finished boot camp then married Helen Skaggs on his 21st birthday April 2nd, 1955. His first daughter Cheri was born the next year on May 3rd 1956. He finished the marines as a Corporal after serving in the Korean war and earning the Korean Service Medal. Bill enrolled in the Rolla School of mines and graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. His second daughter Dana was born August 18th,1962. He received a job offer from General motors and moved his family to Ohio. He had many promotion over the years. One of his biggest challenges was to move manufacturing from Ohio to Mexico. He began working in Juarez Mexico while residing in El Paso. He took a permanent position in Zacatecas Mexico where he lived with his wife for several years before retiring. Bill and Helen were married 65 years . They are survived by their daughters Cheri Posey and Dana Limpert (spouse Chris). They had 7 grandchildren Adam Gursky, Carrie Jones (spouse Cory), Becky Posey, Kristen Pennock (spouse Brandon), David Limpert (spouse Rachel), Andrew Limpert(spouse Kelly), and Emily Limpert. They had 7 beautiful great-grandchildren Dillon, Vallen, Rogan, Cole, Madeleine, Brody and Abigail all who they cherished dearly. Bill and Helen loved family beyond anything else. They were always there for them for the happy times of celebration and time of need and support. They had a special unique relationship with each grandchild. They were there whenever possible for sporting events, birthday's, graduations or for no special reason whatso ever! Bill and Helen loved to travel and camp whenever they could. They travelled all over the world and all over the US after Bill retired. They loved ElPaso where they spent most of their retirement years. Even though their last few years were hard as Bill fought Dementia and Helen fought Parkinsons they never lost their love and devotion to each other. Once Bill passed, Helen tried for a few short months to stay with her beloved family but everyone knew she needed to go to be with Bill. Those who knew them know the enduring love they had for each other and the strength and support they gave to family and friends. Family gathering will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO. Memorial service is Saturday, September 19,2020 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Internment will follow in the Patton Cemetery.
