Theresa Lynne Schearf

Theresa "Tress" Lynne Schearf, passed away in Cape Girardeau, MO, on the morning of July 15, 2021. Born December 7, 1969, to Michael G. and Roberta A. Woods, in Dexter, MO, Tress grew up forging and blazing her own trail, until she met her match and kindred spirit in another and married Christopher Schearf on March 20, 1993. Chris and Tress spent the rest of their time together building their lives, annoying, and bickering with one another, and loving each other fiercely, until Chris' passing in the Fall of 2015. Tress was extremely proud of her two children, Xaundria (Martin) Melton and Tarrin Schearf, of whom she lovingly doted on and butted heads with, until her passing. She was even prouder of her only grandchild, Xaevian Melton, and was always quick to spoil and defend him against anything he did not like or want to do, like eat "real" food, take routine baths, or turn off the TV or video game after playing for a long time. Tress had a unique outlook on life and tried to live it daily. She believed in karma, treating others fairly, taking care of mother earth, and being in one with the universe. She was fiercely loyal to her family and close friends. And while she was known for her stubborn, hard-headed, and argumentative constitution, she was devoted, genuine, and honest, easily speaking her mind when she felt strongly about something, and she would always have her friends' and families' back, if their back was up against a wall. Tress also had a fun-loving, adventurous, goofy side that she shared with her closest friends, family, and customers. She enjoyed spending time with her family, lounging in their pool, loving on her dogs, road tripping, and sharing new adventures with her grandson. Many people grew to know Tress through her career at Pizza Inn, in Sikeston, MO. She worked tirelessly there for years and always strived to make people feel comfortable and welcome, as well as bring a smile to their faces. If you sat in Tress' section, you knew you were going to be well-cared for and could leave your concerns at the door, for she always whole-heartedly served and provided much more than just pizza, wings, drinks, and salads. While you were her customer, you were part of her family. Tress was preceded in death by her soul mate, Chris Schearf, as well as her grandparents. She is survived by her parents; her grandmother Margaret Stafford; her children Xaundria (Tevis) Melton and Tarrin Schearf; her siblings Jason (Amy) Woods, Michael "Clint" Woods, and Dustin (Amanda) Woods; her grandson Xaevian Melton, and several nieces and nephews. No formal ceremony will be held, as she will be cremated and once again be rejoined with the love of her life, her husband Chris. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place in her honor, on Thursday, July 22, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Cape County Park North, Shelter #3. Family, friends, and supporters may send monetary contributions to her daughter, Xaundria Melton, via PayPal (xaundriamartin1) or check, in lieu of flowers, to assist with her final wishes and arrangements.
