Brett Dale Little

Brett Dale Little, 66, of Millersville died Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 18, 1959, in St. Louis, to Clyde and Ola Mae Goodwin Little. Brett grew up on County Road 900 in Patton and graduated from Meadow Heights High School in 1977. Growing up on a farm helped instill in him a strong work ethic. He played sports throughout his childhood and even received a call from the St. Louis Cardinals. He went to work in the communications industry, where he stayed his entire career. He was an avid fisherman, sports enthusiast and active athlete, playing Cape Men's League Basketball into his 40s. He coached men's league basketball as well as his son's youth team at Immaculate Conception. Brett loved his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching old Western shows, listening to gospel music and keeping up with Southeast Missouri sports and Cardinals baseball. He was a member of Church of Christ, where he was baptized at age 14. Survivors include his loving spouse, Karin Bednarek of Millersville; one son, Brett William Little of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Morgan Little of Millersville, Cassandra (Jason) Ingram of Licking and Carrie Little of St. Louis; one brother, Ricky Joe (Joyce Elizabeth) Little of Tuscumbia, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Colton, Ashley, Kiley (Memphis Stout) and Jason Cole Ingram, Madi Shreve, Scott Little and Brooklyn Jackson; one great-grandchild, Harper Stout; in-laws, Sandy, Barb, Janet, Trish, Joe, Melissa, Michelle and Tim and their spouses; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and longtime friend Warren Dowdy. Brett was preceded in death by his parents as well as two sisters, Iris Jean Marx and Peggy Gilmartin; three brothers, Chet, Carl and Clyde Little; and in-laws, Diane and Carol. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Ford and Liley Funeral Home in Patton. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating.
