Plummer, 89, of Marble Hill, MO, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born July 24, 1919 in Colorado, son of the late Jessie and Amelia Plummer. He and Ruby Benton were married on March 6, 1948 and she died June 3, 2001. He was a retired School Teacher at the McKinley School in Canon City, CO, where he coached football, Track and Volleyball and voted Teacher of the Year in 1971, a founding member of the Christian Family Fellowship Church in Canon City, CO, American Association of Retired Persons and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church in Marble Hill. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. Survivors include: three brothers; Marvin Cryer, Melvin Cryer, and Vernon Cryer all of Oklahoma, two grandsons, Clinton Filer of Marble Hill, Michael Filer of St. Louis, MO, two granddaughters, Morgan Starkey of Cape Girardeau, Jerri Halley of Colorado Springs, CO and two great grandchildren, Helen Filer and Steven Starkey. He was preceded in death by his wife; one daughter; Helen Filer and one brother J. T. Cryer. In Lieu of Flowers memorial may be made to the New Salem Baptist Youth Fund. Visitation will be Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at the Liley Funeral in Marble Hill. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Poole officiating.,br> Then on Sunday, September 7, 2008 there will be Visitation from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Holt Family Funeral Home in Canon City, CO. The funeral service there will be at 11:00 AM Monday, September 8, 2008 at the Christian Family Fellowship Church in Canon City, CO, with the Pastor Chill officiating. The burial will be in the Cemetery in Canon City, CO with full Military Honors. Morgan, Starky, Heather and other family members, We really are sorry for your loss.
