Monday, September 07, 1981 to Wednesday, January 09, 2008 A Resident of Sparta, MO Visitation Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton, MO The Final Resting Place is at the Patton Cemetery near Patton, MO Troy James Hays, age 26 of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008. He was born September 7, 1981 in Creve Coeur, the son of James and Ruth (Poddig) Hays. Troy currently taught Math, English and P.E. at Bradleyville High School and was a member of MSTA. He had been Senior Class sponsor the past two years. Troy coached the girl's varsity basketball and boys varsity baseball teams. He was a member of Whitewater Baptist Church, Patton. Troy enjoyed motorcycles and all sports - especially basketball and baseball. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Troy was especially devoted to his son and girlfriend. Survivors include: his parents, Ruth and James Hays, Patton; his girlfriend, Ashley Parres, Sparta; his son, Thomas James Hays, Sparta; his brother, Dustin Hays and wife Michelle, TN; his sister, Brandy Ratcliff and husband Randy, Patton; his nephew, Tristan Ratcliff, Patton; grandparents, Shirley Burns, Festus, James and Janice Hays, Patton, and Betty Poddig, IL; a great grandmother, Irene Ivy, Affton; future in-laws, Tom and Debby Parres, Jackson; Jennifer and Ryan Shelton, TN, Kelly Parres and Josh Birk, Jackson, Lesley and Nick Todd, Jackson, Whitney Parres, Jackson and Seth Bollinger, Jackson; and many family and friends. Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Poddig, Lynnis Burns and Mary and Bernie Parres. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday at Bradleyville High School. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Liley Funeral Home, Patton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Liley Funeral Home, Patton, with Brother Roy Michael officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Troy Hays Memorial Fund, in care of Legacy Bank, 7509 St. Hwy. 14, Sparta, MO 65753. Our prayers are with all of you. Love you. I just wanted to let you know that your son has made one of the biggest infulences on me as a teacher and a coach. He taught me how to play with my heart and to not quit. He gave me my nickname (Sunshine) because I was so grouchy at times, but now I will always love and cherish it. Your son has made a huge impact on Bradleyville School and me. He will always be remembered and never forgotten. Our love and prayers are with you. I'm really sorry to hear about Troy's death. He was a great person and a lot of fun to be around in High School. I regret that we lost contact but I'm sure he remained a blessing to everyone in his life. Again I am very sorry and I send a sincere condolence and prayer. I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Troy's family. I really enjoyed the season Troy and I coached together. He was a pleasure to be around. While I know this is a very difficult time, you all should be very proud of Coach Hays. Our prayers are with the entire family.
