Wednesday, August 27, 1924 to Saturday, October 22, 2016 A Resident of Marble Hill, MO Visitation Services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Homes, Marble Hill, MO Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Liley Funeral Homes, Marble Hill, Mo The Final Resting Place is at the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery Marble Hill, MO Verneda Lorene Jordan age 92, of Marble Hill, MO; passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born August 27, 1924 in Zalma, MO; daughter of William Enos and Mammie Brown Crites. She and Rev. Paul Milford Jordan were united in marriage on September 19, 1946 and he passed away on October 9, 2001. Verneda was a devoted and strong prayer warrior for the Lord and instilled those values to her children and many grandchildren. She would read a story from the bible and pray with her children every night. She gave her life over to the Lord at the young age of 18 at a service at Tower Grover Baptist Church and never looked back. She was a faithful member of the Locust Grove General Baptist Church. She felt blessed by God to have so many men in the family accept the call to preach, and one of her greatest joys came from hearing their sermons and to hear her children and their families sing to her. Verneda also felt blessed to have lived to see 5 generations as part of her legacy. At the age of 3 years old she lost her mother and when she was married she prayed this prayer "Lord never let me orphan a child" and she blessed beyond measure and all nine of her children are still alive to this day. Growing up she worked many odd jobs and at the age of eighteen she worked making missile heads for the defense steel factory during WWII. She enjoyed working in her garden especially with her flower beds. She loved to fish, sew, color, bible studies and witness for the Lord Jesus. Her hearts deepest desire was that all her family come to accept Christ and to know the salvation of the Lord. Survivors include sons Lloyd (Brenda) Jordan of St. Joseph, MO; Paul "Homer" (Kathy), Rev. Phillip (Barbara), Rev. David (Jeannie), Rev. Aron (Rev. Kathy), and Steve (Darlene) Jordan all of Marble Hill, MO; Sheriff John (Kathy) Jordan of Jackson, MO; daughters Joyce (Glenn) Weakley of Marble Hill, MO; Deborah (David) Lichtenegger of Frohna, MO; brothers John (Velma) Crites of Cape Girardeau, MO; Samuel "Albert" (Patricia) Crites of O'Fallon, MO; Henry (Marie) Crites of Sutherland, Virginia; brother-n-law Josh Davenport of Jonesburg, MO; sister-n-law Lily Jordan of Jackson, MO; twenty grand-children, thirty five great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Rev. Paul M. Jordan, parents, brothers Herman, Herbert, Homer Crites, sisters Ocie & Ollie Crites, step mother Ethel Umfleet Crites. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Sander officiating. Interment will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO.
